About The Site

Hollygate Scout Camp is situated in beautiful Nottinghamshire countryside about 6km southeast of Nottingham. The site is a mixture of woodland and flat grassed camping areas that are suitable for all kinds of Scout (and Guide) camping. Facilities on the site are limited, we do not have a hall or kitchen, but we do have a very good quality toilet and shower block.

This is not a site with lots of organised activities but a base to do traditional outdoors Scouting combined with a location second to none.

The site is adjacent to a country park at Cotgrave featuring miles of cycle tracks, a renovated stretch of the Grantham Canal and children's play area and a fishing lake.

Hollygate Campsite is on Hollygate Lane, Cotgrave.

From Nottingham, take the A52 towards Grantham and turn right at the traffic lights towards Cotgrave, stay on this road and take the third road on the right (Hollygate Lane), the campsite is 400m on the right.

From Newark/Grantham, take the A46 towards Leicester: leave the dual carriageway at the Stragglethorpe junction (signed Cotgrave/Cropwell).Turn right at the first roundabout, straight on at the 2nd then first left (signposted Cotgrave), the campsite is 400m on the right.

From Leicester on the A46: leave the dual carriageway at the Cotgrave/Cropwell Bishop junction (NOT Cotgrave/Owthorpe). First left at the roundabout, then first left (signposted Cotgrave), the campsite is 400m on the right.

The Local Area

The nearby village of Cotgrave offers a leisure centre with indoor pool, a good range of shops and a variety of takeaways. There is easy access to the A46 and A52, and a regular bus service from the village to Nottingham.

A short drive away (6km or so) is Nottingham, a lively city that has lots to offer the visitor, from Nottingham Castle, Nottingham Caves, and the Galleries of Justice to the National Ice Stadium. Further details can be obtained from the Nottingham Tourist Information Centre.

Within 5km of the site is the National Water Sports Centre offering a country park and various water sports including white water rafting, canoeing, sailing, wind surfing and rowing. Our local links page provides further information on things to do and places to visit during your stay.

Shops

There are several major supermarkets within a few miles (most will deliver to the site). Cotgrave has a couple of small supermarkets, several takeaways, newsagents & a hardware shop (no gas or paraffin). Bingham has similar shops (including Aldi & Lidl) and the hardware shop does stock both calor gas and paraffin.
